Fabric Stories

Most of the fabrics we use, are exclusively developed by us with our trusted fabric makers. Our fabrics are made in Japan, USA or Europe. Here’s a closer look to some of them.

Winlock Selvedge Denim

Inspiration for this fabric comes from older ways of spinning and weaving denim where the indigo dyed warp yarns and the white weft yarns are unevenly spun. This gives the fabric an irregular character that has, in line with industrial development, been considered as a defect and are therefore uncommon nowadays.

Most denim are redcasted but this is greencasted, giving it a different look and in our mind recalling vintage denim fabric.

Shiroyama Selvedge 18oz

Working closely with our Japanese Mills give us access to great fabrics. The search for a heavy fabric lead us to this 18 oz selvedge fabric that is woven on narrow looms at a slower speed than normal and with a low tension.

The white weft is heavier than the indigo warp yarn. This gives the denim a rougher, uneven, robust vintage look. The cotton is harvested in USA and spun and dyed in Japan.

Gunpowder Denim, Japan Selvedge 14 Oz

We wanted to have a black fabric that could behave like an indigo fabric in the way indigo would fade and look after wearing. That’s why we created the Gunpowder fabric.

If Indigo is Technicolor, the Gunpowder fabric is like black and white photo, full of contrast and life. The rope dye does not penetrate the core of the warp that allows the white to come out in the same way as it does with Indigo dyed fabrics.

Sharing some of the same ingredients as real gunpowder, hence the name and the scent of the fabric.
